A bridge circuit for wire resistance strain gauges
B. V. Hamon · Journal of Scientific Instruments · 1952
Design details are given for a bridge circuit using Waidner-Wolff adjustable resistance elements in the measuring arm instead of the more usual slidewire. The circuit provides for the measurement of resistance changes from 0.1 to 1% of the gauge resistance to an accuracy of ± 0.1%. Provision is made for initial adjustment for a ± 2% difference between active and dummy gauges without altering the bridge reading for a given strain. Stability of zero and the effects of contact resistance variations are dealt with.
