Pseudo‐images and pseudo‐anti‐images from the pseudo‐inverse of a singular correlation matrix

Henry F. Kaiser, Barbara A. Cerny · British Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology · 1978

For a singular correlation matrix some or all of the images degenerate into the original variates, and the corresponding anti‐images have zero variance. It is suggested that these images and anti‐images be replaced with variates (pseudo‐images and pseudo‐anti‐images) developed by Tucker et al. (1972) from the pseudo‐inverse of the correlation matrix.
