Energy-efficient Fire Monitoring using ubiquitous sensor network

Heemin Kim, Lengieng Ing, Young-Guk Ha · 2011

Natural disasters such as forest fire caused by global warming, environmental issues and abnormal climate changes are abruptly threatening the earth every day. Many countries around the globe are looking for ways to fight against the forest fire at early stage using ubiquitous sensor network together with IT technologies. Thus, this study forms multi-layer cluster hierarchy dynamically according to the direction of fire spreading on cluster-based network hierarchy appropriate for Fire-Monitoring, and proposes a method of energy-efficient routing that can reduce energy consumption by the entire ubiquitous sensor network by performing efficient transmission of fire data.
