Modelling in industrial maintenance and reliability
W. Wang · IMA Journal of Management Mathematics · 2010
This special issue consists of mainly selected papers presented at the 5th IMA International Conference on Modelling in Industrial Maintenance and Reliability (MIMAR) held on the 10 and 11 September 2007 at the Lowry Centre in Salford Quays, Manchester. The aim of the conference is to provide an overview of the current research in industrial maintenance and reliability modelling and a discussion of areas of future research. Papers submitted to this special issue were substantially extended beyond the original conference presentations. We thank the Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications for the support over the years to the conference series. The conference involves researchers from all over the World including China, Czech Republic, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Kuwait, Sweden, Finland and of course the UK. The MIMAR conference follows a 3-year cycle and the topics include life cycle analysis and maintenance strategies, inspections and replacements, condition monitoring and condition-based maintenance, warrantee analysis and logistics and the use of multicriterion decision making in maintenance. The papers published in this special issue reflect some of the conference topics.
