Generation and Synthesis of Tone Complexes
Aubrey T. Hickman · The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America · 1965
This account discusses the difficulties met in designing and constructing an electronic apparatus for generating fundamentals and harmonics up to and including the sixth for a music research project concerned with timbre. The problem of adequately suppressing lower-order harmonics and fundamental when upper-order harmonics only are required at the output is shown to be related to certain aspects of auditory behavior. A solution followed when a design compatible with these aspects had been found.
