Connectionist model of the generalized Hough transform for optical implementation

Zohreh Javadpour, John G. Keating · Optical Engineering · 2000

Pattern recognition techniques are widely used in many applications particularly in the area of industrial inspection where objects are identified from features in an image. In particular, the Radon transform ~RT! and the Hough transform ~HT! are known1,2 to be powerful tools for feature extraction. The digital techniques used to implement the RT and the HT require a large number of calculations, however, and as such are limited to non-real-time applications.
