Kinematic Spider Tracking with PoseCut

Jordan Campbell, Steven J. Mills, Mike Paulin · 2014

The PoseCut algorithm [3] is a computationally efficient means of performing joint segmentation and pose estimation of an articulated three-dimensional target using only a simple structural model and user defined appearance model. In this paper we present the results of an application of the PoseCut algorithm to tracking the Otago fishing spider, Dolomedes Aquaticus, while walking in a catadioptric rig. We introduce a novel weighting term into the PoseCut algorithm which allows us to more accurately track fine structures. We show that this weighting term leads to satisfactory tracking performance.
