The environment for learning to program
Charles Woodson · 1988
This paper describes an ongoing research effort to develop course material that aids the learning of programming. The approach used establishes an environment for the learning of programming which stresses the use of programming as a tool for solving problems. Emphasis is upon the issues of programming methods and problem-solving, rather than the programming language features and ends in themselves. The concept of programming environment is expanded to include the information we provide the learner.
