Context-Aware Information Delivery. An Application in the Health Care Domain

Agility and mobility are pivotal aspects of health care delivery. Clinicians operate in a fast paced environment and need to access different pieces of information in different situations. It would appear that clinicians would benefit tremendously from the use of mobile information technologies. However, the health care sector has been hesitant to adopt such technologies for various reasons, including their limited usability. We propose to improve this situation by making mobile technologies aware of their particular usage context. The realisation of context-aware systems requires an architecture and methods to determine, store and retrieve context data. This paper presents a prototypical solution based on the theory of graph grammars and object-based database systems.
