The most likely triangle

James N. Boyd, Prishati Raychowdhury · European Journal of Physics · 1982

Non-negative real numbers are to be chosen to represent lengths of line segments. A linear programming problem is formulated to obtain the most probable triangle which can be formed using segments of the lengths chosen. A physical interpretation in terms of a most likely arrangement of identical particles is given.
