DECADE --- fast centroid approximation defuzzification for real time fuzzy control applications

Proceeding from an iterative centroid formula we develop a Centroid Approximation DEfuzzification (CADE) method and the add-shift algorithm DECADE (Decreased Effort Centroid AplSroxlmation DEfuzzlflcatlon).Examinations of the approximation error using typical examples as well as statistical methods show that DECADE is a'very good center of gravity (COG) estimate.Also concerning static, dynamic, and statistical behavior DECADE and COG are equivalent.Unlike other improved defuzzification algorithms DECADE reduces the computational effort drastically and provides excellent hardware realization abilities making DECADE a very interesting alternative for the design of fuzzy controllers fbr real time problems.
