A Microcomputer Controller for Retorts

Steven J. Mulvaney, Syed S. H. Rizvi · Transactions of the ASAE · 1984

ABSTRACT A manually operated retort was adapted for microcomputer control and data acquisition. The microcomputer controller includes the AIM 65/40 microcomputer with 32K RAM, 16K ROM, real-time clock, and Forth programming language. The AIM was interfaced to a cassette recorder for program storage, CRT, printer, digital thermometer, and signal transducers. The controller can be programmed to calculate thermal process parameters, real-time lethality, and real-time process corrections.
