Developing architectures and systems from the European ITS framework architecture
Richard Bossom · 2000
The paper provides a brief description of how architectures and systems can be developed from the European ITS Framework Architecture. The European ITS Framework Architecture probably provides the most flexibility for its users. This is because the size, scope and level of detail in the architectures and systems developed from it are at the discretion of the user. Like other architectures, the Framework Architecture provides tools and examples to aid the work of developing architectures and systems. One of the keys to the success of the Framework Architecture will be to sustain the current level of interest that is being shown in its use. The best way to achieve this is to keep the architecture alive by updating it in the light of experiences in its use. Proposals have been submitted to the European Commission for a family of projects designed to ensure that this happens. (7 pages)
