Spatiotemporal interpolation filter using vector compensation

Hajime Sonehara, Kazuhisa Iguchi · Systems and Computers in Japan · 2005

When uniformly spaced sample sequences (scanning line) in multiple fields in a moving image are integrated into a single field based on the motion vector, the integrated samples form a nonuniformly spaced sample sequence. A method is proposed in which a filter to restore such a nonuniformly spaced sample sequence is used as a line interpolation filter. This paper presents the interpolation performance of such interpolation filters, as well as the vertical resolution improvement in the moving area. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
