A mathematical model is developed to compute the O-ring loss for square law detectors followed by an O-ring device and an accumulator. The O-ring loss is computed using Gaussian and chi-square statistics for a detection probability of 0.5 and false alarm probabilities of 10−3, 10−3, 10−4, and 10−6. The O-ring loss is computed as a function of the number of channels O red and the number of samples in the accumulator. It is concluded that there will be a large signal-to-noise ratio loss if integration is performed following O ring.
