Chapter 3 describes fixed channel assignment schemes in cellular networks, with emphasis on recent heuristic algorithms that apply genetic algorithms, tabu search, neural networks, fuzzy logic and other heuristics in solving problems. Dynamic channel assignment, channel borrowing and hybrid channel assignment problems are also discussed.
