The is Auditor's Role in Preparing for the Information Processing Application-Related Liability Challenge
Timothy Braithwaite · EDPACS · 2000
It is reasonable to assume that in the near future software product and information processing application-related liability court cases will force a rethinking of the conditions under which software developers can be held responsible and accountable for the quality (i.e., the integrity and reliability)of the software products and the associated information processing applications that they develop and market.Likewise, the organizations that rely on these products and applications in the conduct of their business will have their responsibilities to customers and third parties, for the reliability of their products or services, reexamined.IS auditors need to play a proactive role in preparing the organization for these changes.
