White collar crime has increasingly come to be studied by criminal justice academicians. This is the result of a clearer understanding of its impact on society. As such, a number of criminal justice researchers have come to consider workplace crime as white collar crime. This study investigates scamming in the retail food industry. Scamming is the process whereby employees steal or cheat their employers or customers. The various scamming techniques, the rationalization which scammers use to justify their crimes, as well as the extent to which scamming is a problem in the workplace are examined.
