Numerical Solution of the Eigenproblem for Banded, Symmetric Toeplitz Matrices

A fast method for calculating the eigensystem of a banded, symmetric Toeplitz matrix is presented. The method is based on the use of rank-one updates and employs deflation to reduce problem size whenever possible.
