Speech technology and computing: a unique partnership
James L. Flanagan · IEEE Communications Magazine · 1992
Emerging capabilities in voice processing, such as low-bit-rate coding, wideband signals, perceptual weighting, recognition and synthesis, and talker verification, are discussed. Opportunities for their integration with image and tactile information features are described. After a brief look at the history of speech technology, the present state of speech technology and the opportunities expected to emerge in the next few years are reviewed.>
