Phase I is an overall comparison between the two speech and language screening instruments. Phase II is a statistical analysis of the two tests for the purpose of determining if the same number of subjects (N = 107) and the same individual subjects are identified for speech and language deficits in articulation, vocabulary, language comprehension, and language expression. Analysis of Phase II shows the following: (a) The percentage of subjects identified differed between the two tests for articulation, vocabulary, language comprehension, and language expression; (b) Higher than normal percentages of speech deficits were identified on both tests; and (c) The same individuals were not always identified for diagnostic testing. Possible problems in the validity of some of the areas tested is suggested by these results.
