Borka Jerman-Blažič · New Review of Information Networking · 1996
The paper discuss the needs of users for multi‐language support in current networking services. The framework of a four‐level model for language processing for the provision of multi‐lingual support in networking services is presented. In addition, project MAITS, which is funded by the CEC under the Framework program and which is trying to provide solutions for smooth and friendly transparent language processing, based on the four level model, is briefly described. The current results of the project which enable a character sets conversion engine to provide the correct display of documents prepared in different languages to user client/browse, which lack the capability to negotiate the language and character sets content, are presented.
