Tumor detection using digital mammography

Gary Preis, Ismail I. Jouny · Proceedings of SPIE, the International Society for Optical Engineering/Proceedings of SPIE · 2001

Algorithms for tumor detection in digital mammography are developed and tested using a large database of normal and abnormal images. These algorithms build on previous work ion digital mammography and involve using two basic schemes. Feature extraction using image re-mapping for histogram modification, wavelet decomposition, and estimating of pertinent statistical parameters. These features are then presented in different formats to a neural net-based detection system.
