After many years of research, development and hard times, the biometrics industry seems to have turned a corner in the year 2000. This success can be attributed to a number of factors, such as the introduction of industry standards, a lowering of prices to economically sensible levels and Microsoft signalling its intention to use biometrics in Windows.
