On the optimal photon energy for photon-assisted nonresonant charge exchange

In the weak field limit the dependence of the photon-assisted charge exchange reaction A++B+h/ω→A*+B+ on the applied photon energy is discussed. It is shown that the optimal photon energy for enhancement of the reaction depends on the relative collision energy and is not when the total energy defect of the reaction partners, at infinite internuclear separation, is zero.
