Signal Conditioning for Digital Inputs and Outputs to a Microcomputer
Bailey W. Mitchell · Transactions of the ASAE · 1985
ABSTRACT DESIGN techniques and considerations for signal conditioning of digital inputs to microcomputers or digital outputs from microcomputers are described. Topics covered include sensing on or off states of low and high voltage ac and dc devices, reading switch closures, contact debouncing, outputs to low current devices such as LED's, solid-state relays, or alarms, and outputs to high current devices such as solenoid valves, motors, and electrical strip heaters. Transient reduction, isolation and latching are also described.
