Optimal Power Control - MAC for Wireless Sensor Networks
M. Ramakrishnan, P. Vanaja Ranjan · 2009
An energy efficient Optimal Power Control Medium Access Control protocol (OPC -MAC) is proposed. The transmission power of every node is dynamically changed for the optimal connectivity between nodes. The optimal transmission power for a link is estimated in this OPC -MAC algorithm by measuring the link quality at the Maximum transmission power. The implementation of the OPC -MAC is done with PIC based wireless sensor nodes and the energy efficiency is compared with the simple CSMA/CA protocol with RTS/CTS control packet. Empirical analysis of the OPC - MAC is verified with PIC microcontroller based Wireless Sensor Network testbed.
