The continuous recording of damping at constant amplitude

J.H. Pérez, Jeffrey Delorme, Pierre Péguin, Pierre François Gobin · Journal of Scientific Instruments · 1967

A device which automatically maintains a torsional pendulum at constant amplitude oscillations is described. We have obtained a record of K δ against time ( K is a proportionality factor and δ is the damping of the pendulum) while the specimen is submitted to a constant maximum stress. For example, a Snoek damping peak is measured in this way and also by the classical method.
