Quantum-Dot Cellular Automata: Theory and Application

Fasel Qadir, Peer Zahoor Ahmad, Shahi Jahan Wani, M. A. Peer · 2013

Quantum-dot Cellular Automata (QCA) is a novel nano-scale computing mechanism that can represent binary information based on spatial distribution of electron charge configuration in chemical molecules. This paper presents a novel method of image noise filtering based on Cellular Automata (CA) using quantum devices such as quantum dot or single domain name magnets, which can remove "Salt and Pepper noises" from the corrupted image. Hybrid QCA rules with null and periodic boundary conditions of CA are constructed to filter the noise from binary images. The paper is organized as follows: Section 2 & Section 3 deals with the introduction to basic concepts of CA and QCA. Section 4 deals with the proposed implementation technique for noise filtering. Section 5 shows the experimental results and discussions. Finally, Section 6 provides the conclusions of this work.
