In this paper, fundamentals of three artificial neural network (ANN) paradigms of backpropagation artificial neutral network (BPANN), modular artificial neural network (MANN) and learning vector quantization (LVQ) network are discussed. The capabilities of the three ANN paradigms in high dimensional multisource spatial data classification were evaluated and compared. The research indicates that all three ANN paradigms are capable in the high dimensional multisource spatial data classification. Paradigms of MANN and LVQ networks, with modular design and competition mechanism, achieved more reliable and better classification results than BPANN.
