Specification of ATM systems - experiences of RM-ODP

This paper is concerned with the application of the reference model for open distributed processing (RM-ODP) and similar techniques to the specification of ATM Systems. Of particular current interest is the development of the proposed European Air Traffic Management System (EATMS), which should be considered as a `system of systems'. RM-ODP is a framework which offers a terminology which may be used to ensure a consistent approach is adopted by all the parties interested in the analysis, design and implementation of large systems. It offers an excellent starting point for the specification of distributed systems. (8 pages)
