Viewpoints in object database systems

In this paper we show how an object-oriented view mechanism can be exploited to allow different applications to see the same database according to different viewpoints.Each schema view is obtained by restructuring the original schema, by hiding, adding or r&defining features.The basic characteristics of the proposed view mechanism are sketched and some open issues are discussed.
