Bandwidth Requirements for a Binary Gain Amplifier System

Abstract In the design of amplifiers with digital gain control, it is possible to specify a maximum sampling error and to derive the minimum bandwidth necessary in each stage of the system to achieve the specified accuracy. The derivation is based on the assumptions that all stages have the same frequency response and synchronized gain controls. The bandwidth may be calculated by an iterative method.
