Development of a chaotic environment engine for dynamic virtual world heritage environments

Scot Thrane Refsland, Takeo Ojika, Robert John Stone · Proceedings of SPIE, the International Society for Optical Engineering/Proceedings of SPIE · 1998

This paper presents the development of a Chaotic Environment Engine for the multiplexed management of Dynamic Virtual World Heritage Environments. The Chaotic Environment Engine enables immersive, networked environments to be complex, allowing real-time processing of relationships between (1) many-to-many users, (2) users, artificial life and data storage, (3) virtual environmental hydrology, (4) many-to many-environments, and (5) the aggregate relationship between users, artificial life and environments. The Chaotic Environment Engine is similar to a multiplexing system, yet extended to process communication protocols between humans, artificial life, machines and environments. This research is currently a work in progress and is the first stage of a larger, international project to develop an interactive, Virtual World Heritage Network using advanced virtual reality and multimedia technologies.
