Ada* is more than just a programming language. It is a tool that affects every stage of the software life cycle. Ada provides mechanisms for (among other things) formal specification of software interfaces, encapsulation of abstract data types, production of general-purpose, resusable software components, enforced consistency between separate compilation units, and forced recompilation of one compilation unit when a change to another compilation unit renders the previous compilation obsolete.
