Detection method for colored noise submerged in Gaussian noise

Guiqin Wang, Molin Wang, Zhihong Qian · 2010

For some electronic devices like optoelectron coupled device, it is difficult to detect some colored noises from background noises such as Gaussian noise. The burst noise is a sort of colored noises that are destructive and frequently found in semiconductor devices and ICs, yet detecting the noise has proved to be challenging for device users. A methodological approach is presented in the paper, by which burst noise can be analyzed and detected in time domain, instead of frequency domain. Practical methods to detect colored noise from background noise relies on frequency domain, which may take much of time to complete the work. However, by means of wavelet transform in the time domain and the multi-resolution characters of Gaussian noise, burst noise and blurred burst noise are precisely located and confirmed so that users of some devices does not need to take detection time into account as the practical methods acquired with a great deal of experiment and data statistics.
