EFFET DU CHAMP DE FRANGE D'UN PRISME-LENTILLE MAGNÉTIQUE SUR LA POSITION DE L'IMAGE

Using measured values of the fringing-field intensity of a magnetic prism lens at a large number of points, divergent positive rays issuing from a point source may be traced by numerical calculation through the fringing field to a region within the homogeneous field of the prism. The traced rays enable a virtual source to be calculated, which then locates a virtual image by the Herzog method. The real image is found by symmetry. The method produces a theoretical image position closer to the experimentally determined position than other methods.
