Automatic data extraction of vehicle positioning by digital image processing for modelling its dynamic behaviour
María Elena Díaz · 1996
The main goal of this communication is to present the first results of a system that is being developed and tested as a method to follow trajectories of motor vehicles in planar curves from a sequence of digital images, in order to help civil engineers to design safer roads. Detection of cars must be as accurate as possible, but not necessarily very fast, as real time processing is not necessary. The method is based on techniques of mathematical morphology applied to each of the binary images resulting from thresholding of the difference between successive images of the sequence.
