The first two sentences of the caption of Fig. 1 should be replaced as follows.Comparison of theoretical and experi- mental cross sections (multiplied by 2.6) for capture and excitation followed by x-ray decay for F ++H2 collisions versus projectile energy.The major correction for absorption, assuming that mainly Ka x rays are emitted, in the 3.5pm-thick Mylar window of the detector was already taken into account by Schulz et al. (Ref.8) in obtaining the report- ed experimental cross sections.Additional corrections were calculated by us at each projectile energy weighting the absorption for each transition (Ka, KP, . . . ) with the corresponding theoretical RTEX cross sections and the detector-window absorption efficiency provided by Schulz et al.Since the contributions from KP and higher transitions do change with projectile energy, the effective absorption is also a function of the projectile energy.However, it was found that this dependence is weak.
