We develop a method for modelling wave interactions with large numbers of arbitrarily placed cylinders. To reduce the computational load, a number of cylinders are placed in a fundamental block, or supercell, and this block is then repeated periodically. The problem of wave scattering by a structure constructed in this way is reduced to that of inverting a linear system of algebraic equations containing quasi‐periodic Green’s functions, which capture the periodic repetition analytically.
