Applications of adaptive array antennas in mobile communications
Hiroyuki Tsuji, Mitsuhiko Mizuno · Electronics and Communications in Japan (Part III Fundamental Electronic Science) · 2000
The use of adaptive array antennas for communication systems has been intensively studied to achieve high-speed data transmission and increase the capacity under the limited frequency resources. This idea is based on not only temporal but also spatial signal processing. It is conceivable that FIR filter techniques can be applied to adaptive array processing because of the similarity of their structures. However, some problems will occur when adaptive arrays are applied to mobile communication systems. In this paper, we explain some methods for adaptive beamforming and introduce some actual examples of application to communication systems. We also mention some problems that should be solved in applying adaptive array antennas to communication systems. © 2000 Scripta Technica, Electron Comm Jpn Pt 3, 83(12): 38–50, 2000
