Speech Analysis with Computer-Simulated Filter Bank
Thomas H. Crystal · The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America · 1963
A 165-filter basilar-membrane model is used to analyze speech signals. In an attempt to take a new approach, logical and crossfilter operations are performed instead of the customary time-averaging. The model simulation and logical operations are programmed on an IBM-7090 and the results plotted on microfilm with a Stromberg-Carlson 4020. Applications to pitch and formant tracking are described.
