The Network Computer Concept

The thin-client, platform-independent network computer (NC) device offers organizations the promise of drastically reduced desktop support and management costs and increased security and control. At the same time, issues such as up-front training, software availability, bandwidth, and network reliability must be considered. This article explains the NC's architecture, success factors, and ramifications for several computing arenas and the industry in general.
