BTC image compression with variable length integer codes

In this paper, we propose two image compression schemes: in one scheme, the statistical moments of absolute moment block truncation coding (AMBTC) are compressed using a variable length integer encoder (VLC) and a prediction technique is used for the bit plane of the AMBTC in the other scheme. Experiments on standard images show that our schemes give better results than the existing similar methods.
