Image encyption using dynamic shuffling and XORing processes

John Vreugdenhil, Kane Iverson, Raj S. Katti · 2009

The demand for secure transfers of digital images today is growing hand-in-hand with the rapid increase of the growth of networking technology. While there are image encryption schemes in place already today, many of them have areas that are not resilient to chosen plain-text attacks, mainly the mask method. The proposed cipher in this paper takes a different approach to try and overcome these areas that may be attacked readily. To accomplish this, an index number is introduced to each image encrypted. This single index number allows the same image to be encrypted multiple times resulting in completely different cipher-images, with up to 350 million different outcomes. This is accomplished using multiple pseudo random number generators and techniques ranging from the simple to the complex.
