Recent experiments in quantum information with trapped ions

Trapped ions are arguably the most advanced system for quantum information processing. We review here a few experiments which serve as examples of the possibilities opened by trapped ions. To this purpose, we introduce three levels of understanding ranging from an information theory point of view to a detailed presentation of the experiments.
