TURBINE: Trusted revocable biometric identities

The TURBINE project (TrUsted Revocable Biometric IdeNtitiEs) was launched to lay the groundwork for biometric-based electronic authentication of various applications in both the Internet and the real world. Carsten Rust, head of Corporate Research at Sagem Orga reports on the project. The activities associated with TURBINE, led by Sagem Sécurité, a specialist in digital fingerprint biometrics, are expected to last three years; they have financial support from the EU. The main tasks to be handled by smart card expert Sagem Orga, a subsidiary of Sagem Sécurité, are smart card integration and contributions aimed at demonstrating the developed technology in real-life scenarios.
