A bitmap scaling and rotation design for SH1 low power CPU

Ying‐Wen Bai, Ching-Ho Lai · 1999

In this paper, a bitmap scaling and rotation design with low computation requirements is proposed and implemented using a platform with a low power CPU, SHl, that has a limited amount of computation power. This design is composed of the incrementa algorithm, the fixed-point mathematics, and the prestored bitmap operation function table.First, by using the incremental algorithm, we can reduce the computations based on additive operations to locate the current parameters of the image pixels from the previous parameters.Second, by using fixed-point mathematics, we can reduce the computation of graphic images in comparison.with that for floating-point computation. Finally, by using the prestorcd bitmap operation function table, we can exchange the complex function computations for a simple table look-up.Based on these three arrangements for the SHl platform, the experimental results show a three to six times reduction of time for graphic image rotation.
