An approximation-based approach to computing image moment invariants

A fast method for computing Hu’s image moment invariants is described. The invariants are found by approximation using generalized moments computed in a sliding window by a parallel recursive algorithm. The proposed method is shown to be computationally more efficient than direct computation.
