COMPARATIVE PROBABILITIES RULED BY COHERENCE CONDITIONS AND ITS USE IN EXPERT SYSTEMS
Giulianella Coletti · International Journal of General Systems · 1993
Coherence conditions for comparative (or qualitative) probabilities are presented. Such coherence conditions are interpretable according to de Finetti's paradigm of coherent bets and result in necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a (de Finetti's coherent) numerical probability compatible with the comparative one. Finally, we provide a short sketch of how coherent comparative probabilities might be used in automatic medical diagnosis.
